Pantone® GoeTM System
Since 1963 the PANTONE® Matching System has become the standard in terms of colour communication.
Now PANTONE® offers an adapted system:
The PANTONE® GoeTM System consists of 2.058 new PANTONE® colours. It was developed to meet the creative demands and requirements of the industry also in view of technical advancements.
The PANTONE® Matching System will not, however, be replaced by the PANTONE® GoeTM System. The PANTONE® Matching System unrestrictedly remains on the market.
The colour guides are available as usual as GOEGuideTM C for coated and GOEGuideTM U for uncoated material.
The colour descriptions in the colour guides are to be understood as follows:
- The first figure stands for the colour family (e.g. 6)
- The second part stands for the page number within the colour family (e.g. -1)
- The third part stands for the different levels of brightness within the page number (level 1-7 e.g. -5)
1 = brightest colour
7 = darkest colour
This leads to the description for this colour of 6-1-5 C for coated paper.
Attention: The descriptions of ® GOE GuidesTM are not compatible to those of the PANTONE® Matching Systems. Therefore, Pantone 615 C stands for a different colour than Pantone 6-1-5 C.
Contrary to the PANTONE® Matching System, the basic inks of the PANTONE® GOEGuideTM are all printed with a consistent layer thickness of ca. 1,3g/m².
The colours are mixed at most out of two basic inks and black (Pantone® Neutral Black) or Transparent white (Pantone® Clear).
The Pantone® GoeTM ink mixing systems consists of 9 highly concentrated basic inks plus black and transparent white.
